Experience Beer, Brats, and Bands at the Denver Oktoberfest

Come and enjoy the fall festival that travel writers call, "The best Oktoberfest in the US."

Autumn is a beautiful season in the Rocky Mountains. One of the best ways to celebrate the crisp weather and changing colors is a trip to the Denver Oktoberfest. This fall festival has been a cherished tradition since 1969, hailed by travel writers from Maxim magazine and USA Today as one of the best Oktoberfests in the United States. This year's event promises to continue the time-honored tradition with plenty fun, food, and, most importantly, beer.

Denver Oktoberfest

The 2015 Oktoberfest will take place for two weekends on September 18th-20th, and September 25th-27th, in the Ballpark Neighborhood off Larimer Street. There are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy, but the biggest draw is the beer. You'll be able to wet your whistle with suds from well-known national brands and local microbreweries and sample authentic German cuisine like bratwurst, sauerkraut, and pretzels. There'll also be plenty of beer-related events like a stein-hoisting contest and the national keg bowling championships. The Oktoberfest is also a mecca for music lovers. You can hear many great local rock acts or listen to a traditional German Oom-pah band.

The Renaissance Denver Hotel is a great place to stay if you're planning to attend this fall festival in Denver. The hotel is located near Larimer Street and other top attractions like the Denver Zoo, National Western Complex, and Elitch Gardens Amusement Park. If you want a change of pace from Oktoberfest fare, the hotel has the Vivace! Ristorante, which offers authentic Italian cuisine in a casual atmosphere.

One of the best things about this festival is that many of the actual brewers attend, so you can sample the beer and talk to the people that produce it first-hand. If the competition gets you thinking about starting to homebrew for yourself, you can check out the Homebrew Marketplace and talk to the exhibitors there as they showcase their goods and offer advice.

Talented chefs and independent brewers will be combining their talents at the festival for the Paired event, formerly known as “Farm to Table," where small bite dishes are paired with complimentary brews. You can also explore the artistry behind cheese-making with the American Cheese Society in attendance. If you’re one of the many attendees that join the festival as a designated driver, make sure you stop by the Designated Driver Lounge to enjoy samples of craft-brewed root beers and sodas, pick up some festival swag, and get a chair massage, all as a way to say “thank you” from the festival organizers.

Extend your festival experience in the beer capital of the United States with a stay at the Renaissance Denver Hotel.
